'The MULTI-GEARED Motor Assist Kit'
'The M.G. mak.' (Pat.)
'The MULTI-GEARED Motor Assist Kit' provides Power Assistance for your bicycle in all conditions, - up hill, flats and down hills!
No longer do you end up doing all the work above 25 k.p.h., the speed at which previous motor assist kits generally ran out of revs.
Most fit cyclists can average 25 k.p.h. without Motor assistance so there was no incentive to fit a Motor Assist Kit.
The 'M.G. mak.' has eliminated that problem, providing 200 watts of supplementary power at speeds up to the 50 k.p.h. limit.
By selecting the right gear the motor stays in the correct operating R.P.M. range, thereby reducing noise, fuel consumption and wear.
Not only does the 'air-conditioner' work better at higher speeds, keeping the perspiration levels down, the safety factor of a lower 'Speed Differential' with other vehicles gives drivers more time to see and negotiate 'M.G. mak.' riders.
The 'M.G. mak.' upgrade offers cyclists a practical transport alternative for commuting, cycle touring holidays with heavy loads,
or just quicker long distance rides.
Road Test Proven
The Prototype 3 Speed 'M.G. mak' has been tested by the designer / manufacturer, John Klose, over 36,000 km., mainly commuting to and from work.
John and his Wife, Jan, successfully completed a 750 km. tour of Tasmania (Feb.2004) on an 8 Speed 'M.G.mak' Tandem towing a Bob Trailer.
Performance of the 8 Speed 'M.G. mak' is far superior to the 3 Speed with a wider range of ratios and closer ratio gear change points.
The current model 8 Speed 'M.G. mak' has maximum gear change points of 1st. at 15 k.p.h., 2nd. at 20 k.p.h., 3rd. at 25 k.p.h., 4th. at 30 k.p.h.,
5th. at 35 k.p.h., 7 th.at 45 k.p.h.
and 8th. being an overdrive for lower r.p.m. cruising on the downhill / tailwind sections!
Fuel consumption on the Tassie tour using a 2 stroke motor averaged around
65 k./l.
Options
There are two motor options, either a 2 stroke or 4 stroke motor, and two gearbox options, either a 3 speed or 8 speed.
The final drive gearing can be selected after consideration of the intended load and terrain conditions.
A long range fuel tank is recommended to supplement the motor's fuel tank, thereby giving up to 200 kms. range.
